Where or where to begin? I have been MIA for most of this month because we were on vacation in Switzerland and Italy. It was really wonderful but not at all relaxing. My next requirement for traveling is a place where I can easily purchase kosher food.
That being said, the views were amazing:
And then, as soon as we got back home, we spent 3 days trying to get over all the exhaustion of vacation traveling and get ready for Baby J’s new Gan. She started on September 1st and is now going to a Gan with 19 other kids ranging in age between 1 1/2 and 2 1/2, and it’s Hebrew speaking.
First couple of days were great. But, as the days got longer, and she realized there wasn’t going to be a morning nap, she started to get unhappy. This morning, when DH left her off, she cried for the very first time! I decided to go early to pick her up since she had such a crappy morning, and she was practically falling asleep waiting for me to come! I’m hopeful she’ll get used to the new schedule soon and will be happier once she does.
With gan well underway, I am under the gun with Rosh Hashanah planning. Last year, we had a horrible Rosh Hashaha with DH’s family. I got into a huge fight with my sister-in-law before the first night’s dinner and I spent the entire holiday praying to be able to go home. It was miserable, I cried a lot and vowed to never, ever, be put in a situation where I cannot return home. So, this year, we politely turned down the invitation from my in-laws and decided to make the holiday at home.
We did agree, however, to go to two meals with his family. But, there is absolutely no sleeping over this year and we are not davening with them at the same shul. It was a bit of an adjustment for them, but I think they all realize this is what’s best for us as a family.
Which leaves four meals I need to prepare for and – of course – we decided to have company for at least two meals.
Now, I’m a hyper-organized person but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by my menu!
Here’s how I break things down:

Phew! And I just know myself, I’ll make some more work so that I’m cooking and baking more than necessary.
Well, it feels good to just write this all down. At least now I know that I’m on track and hopefully I’ll get everything done in time! While I know I could cook over the holiday – and I will make an Eruv Tavshilin just in case I want to cook for Shabbos on Friday – I’m hoping I really won’t have to!
Good luck everyone with your cooking!!
